Born and raised in rural Kingstree, South Carolina, Ludrick Rell C. Cooper, owner of the Pee Dee region-based video production company Kuntree Urban Media & Film, has been able to apply the many things he learned being a young videographer trained by his father, participating in journalism in high school, and eventually attending the same HBCU as his dad and uncle (Benedict College, top left picture above). In December of 2005, Ludrick (also referred to as ‘Rell’ or ‘Rell C.’) eventually earned his Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications Broadcast. Later, he would then relocate to Orlando, Florida where he attended film school at F.I.R.S.T. Institute. Immediately after graduating, he began developing his very first short film, writing, directing and producing Deserving Mercy. A year later, Mr. Cooper relocated again, this time to the midwest, St. Louis, Missouri/Southern Illinois. He was initially in grad school to pursue a MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching), but discovered as he went on that the degree program just wasn’t for him. He did, however, gain a passion for storytelling during that period, and began focusing more on African-American Literature. Ludrick began writing his first book based on his previous short film, Deserving Mercy, then switched his major at Webster University from Education to New Media Production. He also created a podcast which further inspired him to create.
